We have completely re-vamped the new script. We've cut out the red herring and made it a straight-foward story between two characters, Nate and Emma, who are trying to manage their relationship after the strain of Emma's acting career takes it to the edges.
Here's an excerpt:
INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Nate and Emma idle in the living room, Nate watches TV and
Emma sits next to him with a pencil and writes in An Actor
Prepares. She sets the book down and looks at Nate.
NATE
You want me to do what?
EMMA
I need you to tie me up.
Nate’s eyes shift onto Emma’s. He smiles. He leans over and
glides her hair behind her ear with his fingers and then
strokes her cheek.

EMMA
No Nate, not like that.
Emma swats him with the script.
EMMA
I have to feel trapped. Confined.
Cornered. This character is
abducted by this crazy artist,
taken to his studio, and kept
there against her will. He even
wears a mask all the time so she
can’t even see his face. She can’t
even see her attacker. I need to
understand all of that.
NATE
Emma, that’s crazy. You are crazy.
What do you want me to do? Play
Halloween and lock you up in a
room?
EMMA
Basically. And somehow do it
without me knowing about it.
Surprise me.
NATE
That sounds ridiculous. Can you
hear yourself?
EMMA
Ridiculous? You think what I want
to do with my life is ridiculous.
NATE
That’s not what I said Emma.
EMMA
Basically, yea it is. You just
don’t want to do it because if I
actually get this part, we’ll have
to move and focus on my career for
once.
Nate scoffs.
NATE
It’s my job that’s paying for your
acting classes, so don’t say I’m
not helping you.

EMMA
Right now, you’re not. Well I’m
hungry so I’m going to go make
dinner; it’s not like you can do
that anyways.
Emma storms off towards the kitchen.
Nate shakes his head in disbelief and returns his attention to the TV.
Hopefully we'll get a good turn out with casting tonight, but student films can be a tough sell.
